Current Testing underway

Here is my exhausting list of testing currently under way.

Scrub Components rotors - super light weight brake rotor

I am testing the scrubs on my 29er with my Marta SL's.

My current mini-review: I had just added these in a 180/160 combination to my 29er using Marta SL brakes and I have 5 rides on them. I took them out on the Pueblo South Shore trail which has some tough quick grab a huge handful of brakes type of technical moves along with light feathering in the wicked stuff, and they did extremely well. They would make an occasional noise here and there but were quiet for as much abuse, torture, and fade I was subjecting them to. The last couple of rides I have used them on longer downhills rides and they have been fine. They can scream like a banshee when I get a bit of snow on the rotors, but they dry quickly and the noise goes away. The Marta rotors do the same thing but not quite as loud. I am a brake hog so I really ride the brakes on downhills and these brakes have been doing quite well. So far a great and extremely light weight product.

The Scrubs are a powerful brake rotor, they dissipate heat extremely well, which means they don't fade very much, they can make a very small bit of noise during hard braking but it is not bad, I am still trying to figure out their modulation.

Scrub's:
180mm 65.2g
160mm 57.5g

Marta SL's:
180mm 126.4g
160mm 102.8g

Weight loss:
-106.5g

Stem length experiment - 80 vs 90 vs 100 vs 110

This is an experiment in progress. I didn't like the 80 at all, the 90 was so-so, the 100 was sweet and the 110 (my original) climbs the best. So far the 100 is winning. Been riding the 90 lately. It is a nice compromise.

Cane Creek 110 IS: in red

Installed the unit on my Ibis Mojo. It all went on well. The top bearing cover was a bit tight, especially on my Manitou Elite fork but I got it all on. It did make it easier for it to all stay together since the cover held the fork on without having to holding it up. The platform width on the bottom of the top bearing cover is a bit narrower them my old Solo IS.
