Gore Bike Wear's new Fusion AS Cross jacket was pretty sweet looking, and had plenty of innovative and functional features. The first one that captures your eye, is the wear resistant stripes on the shoulder area and the outer arms. The patches protect the outer fabric, from abrasion, tears and scratches, greatly helping the longevity of the jacket. The outer material is the light windproof and water resistant Windstopper Active Shell, which has excellent breathability. Stretchy sections of Windstopper are added on the sides and elbows for comfort and maneuverability. Other features are underarm vents, front zipper, Napoleon pocket, and an adjustable hem. The Fusion AS Cross jacket should be an excellent cool weather and transitional season product, that is comfortable, durable and functional.
Gore Bike Wear has evolved their ALP-X line, to include a wide spectrum of apparel from jackets, jerseys, pants, gloves, socks, shorts and bibs.
The ALP-X 2.0 jersey is light, form fitting, yet stretchy enough to be comfortable, and has high tech materiel that offers great moisture management. It incorporates a full length zipper, and mesh inserts under the arms, back and neck for maximum ventilation. The jersey has a lot of features, such as small wavy silicone strips on the shoulders for packs, eight pockets, in which the rear ones can be used with a pack on. The ALP-X 2.0 jersey is another feature laden and comfortable product from Gore.
The ALP-X bibtights are made specifically for the mountain bike rider, and use the ALP-X seat insert for fast drying and reduction of nerve pressure. The outer portion of the thighs has a ceramic print for abrasion resistant and to prevent snagging, while there is a lighter mesh on the upper back for ventilation and a wide gripper elastic section on the leg hem. The ALP-X bibtights are comfortable, form fitting and well padded, making for an ideal partner on long rides in rough conditions.
The Countdown Active shell is quilted, water resistant, windproof, warm and light. It uses the Windstopper material throughout, with Primaloft Infinity insulation for warmth, which doesn't clump. It has Kevlar reinforcement by the front pocket for abrasion resistant to gloves, reflective piping on the front and back for commuting, and fleece lined neck and wrists. The Countdown will be warm enough for those chilly days, but it still retains enough fashion to wear around town.
Last but not least is their Baselayer apparel line, which includes shirts, singlets and shorts. They use the Polypropylene material, which is light, comfortable, antibacterial and offers excellent moisture control. It can be used in warmer weather, while the addition of Windstopper liner to the collection makes it ideal for cooler temperatures. The shorts use their Context seat pad, with a comfortable elastic band.
