Kuat as always, had some new items, such as their retrofit for the popular NV bike rack that allows four bikes, and then a trick beta trailer hitch for the NV. The prototype NV hitch, called the Lynx, is just the bottom portion of the NV rack, will forgo the cam cinch knob (removes the wobble from the receiver/hitch interface), and instead uses a large lever to tighten it down in one simple movement. I really like the giant lever idea, since it is easier to use, and it appears to be less susceptible to damage than the plastic cam knob (I broke one driving into a ditch).
In addition, in has a nifty locking and hitch pin system. Instead of trying to line up the holes for the hitch and receiver, you just slide it in, and the pin pops into the hole. The lock is just below bike trays, and is easy to get to and operate. I tested it out, and it couldn't be much easier to use. I am looking forward to trying this bad boy out, and it's another great innovation from kuat!
Kuat is finally releasing their highly anticipated 2 bike add-on option for the NV rack, giving the NV a full 4 bike capability. The new option, the N103, will hook up to an existing 2 bike NV with a small amount labor, including putting together the unit itself. This will be a great fall and winter shuttle and road trip rack, when the whole gang tends to conglomerate. I am a willing test guinea pig! Retail is $315.
Nice rack indeed!
